PSG president, Al-Khelaifi clears air on contacting Zidane to replace Pochettino as manager

Paris Saint-Germain president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has denied being in talks with former Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane, about becoming the club’s next manager.

Al-Khelaifi, however, gave support to the current PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino, adding that the French Ligue 1 giants are happy with the Argentine.

He spoke following reports last week in French media of a meeting between Zidane and PSG officials in a fancy Paris hotel.

Recall that Pochettino had been linked with a move to Manchester United before the Red Devils appointed Ralf Rangnick as interim manager.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday, Al-Khelaifi told L’Équipe TV channel that PSG had “zero contact” with Zidane, but considers the Frenchman a “top coach.”

“He [Pochettino] is there, we are very happy, he is doing a good job,” he said.
