Lars Kornetka, Ralf Rangnick’s trusted assistant coach has rejected an offer to join him at Manchester United, Metro reports.
This means that the 63-year-old German will not be bringing his trusted number two with him to Old Trafford.
The former RB Leipzig boss was confirmed as the new interim manager at Old Trafford on Monday.
But the 63-year-old German coach is unlikely to be joined by Kornetka.
Rangnick had described Kornetka as ‘the best video analyst we have in Germany and my friend and colleague’ and had worked with him at Hoffenheim, Schalke and RB Leipzig before and also joined him at Lokomotiv Moscow earlier this year.
However, Lokomotiv have confirmed that Kornetka will take over the position left void by Rangnick’s departure in the Russian capital.
Manchester United are expected to retain Michael Carrick, Mike Phelan, coach Kieran McKenna and the goalkeeping coach Richard Hartis.
