Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has said that there is no debate over who was the better all-round player between Chelsea and Liverpool legends, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.
The debate about who is the better midfielder between the two England legends is one that has raged on for years about two of the greatest ever Premier League stars.
Gerrard and Lampard found it difficult playing well together while with England, but had glittering club careers where they won stacks of trophies.
Lampard scored 274 club goals for Chelsea compared to Gerrard’s 190. And the Blues legend also won three Premier League titles, while the latter had none.
“Let’s get one thing straight right now. Gerrard was on another level [to Lampard]. Another planet,” O’Hara said.
“Gerrard was unbelievable, you couldn’t get near the guy. It was a joke at how good he was, he had everything. He had pace, he could score, he could tackle, he was harder than you, fitter than you, had more leadership and could drag the team on his own.
“Lampard was a goalscorer. He’d get in the box and was almost like a No.10, but as an all-round player.
“But Gerrard was the best player I played against by a million miles.
“It’s not a debate.”
