Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez, has told the club hierarchy to sign Chelsea captain, Cesar Azpilicueta on a free transfer next summer, according to ESPN.
Azpilicueta has spent 10 seasons with the Blues, helping them to win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Europa League on two occasions.
The Spain international’s current contract expires at the end of the 2021/22 season and the Blues are yet to agree a new deal with the 32-year-old.
Chelsea hoped the Spain international would have to convince the club to remain at Stamford Bridge.
ESPN reports that the Catalan giants’ new boss has demanded that they sign the 32-year-old and the former LaLiga champions are now keeping tabs on the player’s situation at Stamford Bridge.
