W/Cup qualifiers: Six African countries progress as Nigeria battle Cape Verde

There are four playoff spots still left in the African World Cup qualifying series.

Six countries are already through to the next round, where the five flag bearers from the continent will be decided.

They are: Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Ghana, Mali, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Algeria are all still yet to confirm their places in the March 2022 double-headers.

The likes of Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Cape Verde could yet gate crash the party.

The Super Eagles beat Liberia 2-0 last weekend thanks to two penalties and remain top of Group C ahead of Cape Verde, who they play at home on Tuesday.

Against a team ranked 77th in the world, Gernot Rohr’s men are favourite to get the job done.
