Former Chelsea star, Glen Johnson, has identified Mason Mount as the most ‘underrated’ player at Stamford Bridge.
Johnson believes Mount should be ‘starting every week’ for Chelsea despite the intense competition for places in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
According to him, everyone would be raving about the England international if he was French or Italian.
Mount broke into the Chelsea first-team under former manager Frank Lampard and has continued to impress since Tuchel’s appointment last January.
He played 54 matches for Chelsea last season as they won the Champions League, reached the FA Cup final and finished fourth in the Premier League table.
The 22-year-old has started four of Chelsea’s six Premier League games this season, missing last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City through injury.
“Mason Mount is underappreciated, he’s brilliant,” Johnson told bettingexpert.
“If he was French or Italian, everyone would be raving about him.
“He’s playing with big names, superstars and for me, some of his performances do go unmissed. He’s an all-around midfielder and should be starting every week.”
