EPL: Ronaldo trains with Man Utd squad ahead of Newcastle clash

Cristiano Ronaldo was at Manchester United’s training complex in Carrington on Tuesday for the first time, after re-joining the club from Juventus this summer.

He has not been to the club’s training base since leaving United 12 years ago for Real Madrid in a then-world-record £80m transfer.

Ronaldo spoke with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before he was introduced to the players that did not travel for international duty.

The 36-year-old then partook in his first training session with his new teammates.

The Portugal captain could be in line to make his second United debut when they host Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday.

If not, he should be on from the start in their Champions League group-stage opener away at Young Boys on Tuesday.

“It is hoped the striker will be ready to assist the side and begin to have an immediate impact in his second spell at the club,” a Manchester United statement read.
