EPL: All your reputations gone – Goldstein warns Ronaldo against Man City move

Cristiano Ronaldo has been warned that most of his history at Manchester United would ‘count for nothing’ if he eventually joined arch-rivals Manchester City.

Man United super fan and talkSPORT host, Andy Goldstein gave the warning amid reports that Ronaldo, a Manchester United legend, is about to join Man City.

Reports in Europe suggest that Ronaldo could leave Juventus before the transfer window closes as he is keen on moving away from the Italian giants with just one year remaining on his contract.

Man City on tbe other hand had hoped to sign England captain, Harry Kane who has now decided to stay at the north London side.

Ronaldo could be one option for Pep Guardiola’s side, who are looking to replace Sergio Aguero who joined Barcelona this summer on a free transfer.

If the Portugal superstar were to join City, the news would unlikely go down well with United fans.

How Messi’s move to PSG affects Cristiano Ronaldo

In six seasons at Old Trafford, he scored 118 goals and helped them win three Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Goldstein told talkSPORT Drive: “I would be absolutely heartbroken (if Ronaldo joined City). I know I’m going extreme here, but genuinely if Ronaldo went to City, I think he’d be dead to me.

“I’d just look at Ronaldo, as much as I adored him for what he did for my club, it would count for nothing.

“His history at United, in my mind, would be wiped.

“The relationship in my mind that Ferguson has with Ronaldo, there’s that father son thing going on there. They’ve got mutual respect.

“The fact I’ve heard Ronaldo talk about his love for Manchester United and wants to go back there one day…

“He shouldn’t want to go there. It’s like someone phoning me up and asking if I want to go to Magic FM. I’m not going, I’m talkSPORT.

“There’s just things you don’t do when you are an absolute superstar and idolised.

“Prime example – Cantona. Eric Cantona would never in a million years have gone to City. It wouldn’t have happened as he’s better than that.

“Ronaldo shouldn’t do it. It shouldn’t even be in his thought process.”
