We are often oblivious to the signs of a crumbling relationship. It is mostly because of our belief that if we pretend things are alright, they will turn out to be fine. However, in real life that doesn’t really work. Here are 6 signs that signal the end of your relationship and the fact that it is time to break things off.
1. Someone’s cheating
If either you or your partner cheated, then that’s a clear sign that it’s game over for your relationship. Although some people can get over the cheating, for most it is impossible to get past. Cheating creates irreversible damage to the relationship, from which there is no going back. If you have cheated then it is obvious that you do not value your relationship or your partner. If your partner cheats on you once, there is a chance that they will do so again. It all depends on a matter of trust. If you cannot forgive them or trust them again it is best to walk away.
It is okay to admit that your relationship may no longer be working out. Things change and people grow apart. The most important thing is to do what makes you happy and sometimes, walking away can be the best choice to make.
Any kind of abuse, whether physical or emotional is the biggest sign that you need to leave the relationship as soon as you can. Are you afraid of your partner? If you think you are in any kind of danger you must get out and get help immediately. If your partner belittles you and makes you feel bad about yourself they are emotionally abusing you. Do they hit or threaten you? Do they make you feel useless or worthless? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then you must walk out and seek help. You deserve much better and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.
3. There is no intimacy
When was the last time you felt genuine affection towards them? When was the last time you laughed together? If you can’t remember the last time you cuddled or went on a cozy date it is time to re-examine your relationship. This is a sign that you have lost interest in him/her. Nothing they do will excite you anymore. Is it because you no longer find each other attractive, or have you both simply stopped making an effort? If you have stopped enjoying each other’s company and no longer have fun it may be time to move on.
4. All you do is fight
A few fights once in a while is a sign of a healthy relationship. They show that you care about each other. On the other hand, if all your conversations end in fights, it could be because you are irritated with each other. Do the smallest things bother you a lot? Arguments over trivial things are usually a sign that there are deeper problems. It could be a way to express your unhappiness. To continue a relationship, you should both want to resolve these issues. This will give you both a chance to revive your relationship. If you don’t even want to, then your relationship is already over.
5. You start daydreaming
If you find yourself repeatedly imagining life as a single person, or daydreaming about the new cute co-worker, you have already started detaching yourself from your partner emotionally. Your wandering mind is a sign that you are bored and no longer satisfied with the relationship. It is also a sign that you have fallen out of love. Ask yourself why your mind is wandering and try to look for a remedy before you decide on breaking with your significant other.
6. You no longer communicate
Communication is the key to a successful relationship. Silence is a bad sign for a relationship. A lack of communication can create a void in your relationship that can create a downward spiral from where there is no return. Try to have some light hearted conversations and spend some time together. Make plans or just talk about anything. If that proves too difficult and you realize that you just don’t care, then it’s time to end things.
