Everyone at some point in their life has experienced some sort of anxiety attack. It’s human nature to panic when things go wrong and worry about things that are not even real. If you give it time, then anxiety passes away and you go back to normal. However, the problem is that the anxiety keeps coming back and each time the pain becomes worse. So what do you do? You exercise. In order to bring down your anxiety levels, the best cure is to exercise and if you are wondering which ones to do, here is a list of 5 exercises that you should try out.

One of the best ways to beat anxiety is to go for a run. It doesn’t matter how you run or where you run, just put on your trainers and start running. The best part about running is that you can push yourself to the limit any time you want. Running increases your heartbeat, and your blood starts to circulate faster. As a result, you feel more uplifted than ever due to your brain’s endorphins and can be a perfect cure for anxiety. Quite often anxiety makes you feel depressed. Running does the exact opposite.

Now, this may not fall under the orthodox exercise list, but meditating helps to cure anxiety just as much. When you are meditating, you are bringing focus to your breathing. You control your intake of  oxygen and the outflow of carbon dioxide. By doing so, your brain is getting the signal to calm yourself down and stop feeling so stressed out. When you are in control of your own breathing and your own emotions, you won’t feel as distressed or feel as panicky.

If you really want to beat that anxiety, then consider lifting weights. Working out with weights can actually be one of the best form of therapy. You don’t need to want to get bulky, or become some sort of body builder, nor might you not want to lose any weight. But even so, the slightest form of weight lifting can help you physically, mentally and emotionally. Try and do this as early as possible, because you’ll then feel great for the rest of the day. It’s a superb medicine to help beat anxiety.

This will probably sound unfamiliar to a lot of people but Tai Chi does help to beat anxiety. Tai Chi is basically a series of slow gentle movements of the hands and the rest of the body. It is sort of similar to yoga but in a more rhythmic manner and has more activity than yoga. If you have watched one of those old school Chinese movies then you may have noticed the kung fu master or the main character retraining themselves using the art of Tai Chi. In a study done on this form of exercise, it took people just 3 months of regular Tai Chi to significantly lower their anxiety levels and bring a complete change in their behavior. Try it. You might like it.

Exercising, working out, running or even doing Tai Chi may seem tiresome or boring. For those kind of people, try a sport. It doesn’t matter what kind of sport you want to play, just go and play. Try and play a sport that gets your body moving and gets you sweating. It’s good for the heart, health, and can be just the help you need to overcome anxiety. A good 60 minutes to 90 minutes’ worth of game time a day will make you feel better both physically and mentally. Playing outside will also get you some sunshine and perhaps a much needed boost of Vitamin D.
